I have enjoyed my fellow bloggers' retrospectives of 2008 so much, that I thought I would do my own - mostly to refresh my memory of just what happened this year! I tend to get very scatterbrained after having a baby and have very little memory of the first year of each of my children's lives.
*ugh - so scatterbrained that I just pushed "publish" - my apologies to those on feed readers!*
JAN 2008
*I was recovering from skin cancer surgery and reconstruction.
*Jeffrey was Baptised on Epiphany!
*We studied the weather and made weather fairies.
*My theme for 2008 was supposed to be "I get to" (as opposed to "I have to ... cook, clean, stay up all night, etc"). I still have a loooong way to go with this. I do think I have made progress. I'll have to come up with a 2009 theme soon.
*I started chatting with an accountability partner - while it didn't last too long, it was extremely helpful to get me on track.
*Jeffrey was on the tail end of many months of colic.
*I started cooking on a two week rotation of meals (which we are still using with some minor modifications to this day - I'm much more flexible with in now though)
FEB 2008
*Jane turned 5 and I turned more than 5 (34 more than 5, lol)
* A devastating tornado touched down less than .5 mile from where dh was on a business trip.
* I wrote what was probably my highest-commented-on post (19 whole comments, LOL!) in response to a nasty anonymous comment.
* I answered a variety of readers' questions.
MARCH 2008
*Lent seemed it's usual really-hardness.
*We dabbled in unschooling and discussed different parenting styles.
APRIL 2008
*Skye played her first season of softball.
*We started (and ended!) the Prairie Primer.
* I answered more readers' questions.
*Here's a day in the life from that time.
MAY 2008
*Batty turned 3!
*Lots of decluttering (what else is new here?)
*We celebrated our 14th anniversary.
JUNE 2008
*My laundry disappeared.
* I found out about D-MER.
* I started counting calories to gain weight (I was on a very restricted diet. Now that I am on a *less* restricted diet, I'm having the opposite problem!!)
JULY 2008
*We gardened and started Sonlight's Core 4
*Jeffrey lost a tooth in a freak accident
AUG 2008
* I wrote about and discussed my Personal Rule of Six for improving my parenting.
* DH won the county fair's pie eating contest, again!
SEPT 2008
*Jeffrey turned one!
*We went to the beach for a real vacation.
OCT 2008
*Jane lost her first tooth
*Lots of Civil War study
*A day in the life from October
NOV 2008
*Rose turned 11 (I can't believe it) and Skye turned 9
*I learned more about the value of suffering
*We went on a date. A real date! With another couple! :)
*The girls started earning their computer time by doing chores.
DEC 2008
*I start packing for no good reason.
*I joined Facebook (and that was the last time I was ahead of Willa in anything brain related, lol)
*I became the Catholic Living Haiku Champion of the World. ;-)
This was harder than I thought! I don't seem to blog much about what we do, so much as what I'm *thinking*. And no one wants to live through THAT again. ;-)
Happy New Year Everyone!!!
