Finally

A quick post to share that I finally finished a little lap blanket that was supposed to be a huge quilt.  I knew my "project eyes" were bigger than my ability to stomach all that crafting, as usual (ummm, wallpaper stripped in my kitchen for, gulp, a year without being repainted, anyone?) So I turned  it into a lap blanket and finished it off this weekend. I did not block it. (See above comment. It ain't happenin'.) Jennifer shared the pattern ages ago.

Without further ado, because this won't even get posted if I don't just hurry up already, here it is.

The picture seems a little washed out color-wise, but you get the idea.

I'm off to help the kids enjoy some spring snow!

I have a confession to make...

...I'm a hooker.

Yes, it's true.

Not the best one either, but my other crafts are worse.

For the benefit of my mom who is probably just about fainting now if she's reading this, I'm talking about crochet. ;-)

I've tried knitting on many occasions, and I can do it (sort of), and I *LOVE* how knitting looks, but for some reason my hands just don't get it.

It's funny, I know about as many people who say the same thing about crochet but know how to knit. I wonder what it is - are people either knitters or crocheters? Do you have to be extraordinarily talented to be good at both?

Anyway, I've joined Ravelry as one of the dark side (crocheters,LOL) and am now starting my first project: a diaper soaker - one that I had frogged (ripped out) last year as a knitted piece. It took me so long that Jeffrey outgrew the size before I was even half done.

If I get a chance, I'll upload a picture or two when there are a few more rows completed.

I love how when I take out yarn and any sort of tool - my girls smell it in the air and come running from all points of the house (you know, like from the 5 feet away they ALWAYS are??), grab their own yarn and start crafting. Poor Batty though, her little hands can't keep up with the other girls and she usually just starts winding yarn around her hand until it's purple. :-P I'll find something for her yet!

And we even did math!

Yesterday was more productive than usual, at least for my oldest. Several pages of math, history books on tape, several chapters of a Narnia book read...AND, she made her little sister this felt board and pieces. She is always trying to make fun things for them:



The fish have spots in this picture, but the are removable and can be exchanged for fashionable stripes! The littles spent quite a while playing with it this morning.
