Well, that title kind of sums it up, lol.
I've spent the last 5 weeks trying to stuff a square peg into a round hole, saying, "C'mon, fit in there! The round hole is so beautiful! The round hole is going to be the answer to all your problems! Heal, darn it, and stop fussing about being shoved into a hole!" ;-)
This morning I handed her a language arts workbook and writing workbook and told her to do her math (computer, TT4), and she is now happy as a clam, having completed all her work.
I don't think it was *all* the fault of a poor fit. I think Oak Meadow 4 is *not* the place to jump into waldorf if neither you nor the child has done it before. It seems kind of scattered and doesn't present what it is doing well enough for the difficulty of the material. It's a strange combination of difficult and way too easy. We were *both* struggling with it. Now, if your child is creative and loves open ended discovery, etc, it's probably great. But I couldn't make it work for my black-and-white/fill-in-the-blanks girl without knowing a lot about Waldorf/Oak Meadow myself. Which I don't.
So there.
