(Am I dating myself? Do they even say that anymore? LOL, I hardly watch TV, the news especially not...)
When we last spoke to our kind, bespectacled hero, he was heard to say, "Whatever, just make sure the kids stay at grade level or above." This sparked panic in the ranks, as one of the
"Care to show me the magic wand to fix that one?" said the insubordinate First Pantry Officer (not one of her better moments).
Later, however, St. DH changed his mind. Sources close to the family say they have no idea what happened.

So...we get to have some fun with unschooling. Although what dh considers unschooling is NOT radical unschooling -- more like a combination of delight directed learning on the part of the kids, and serious "strewing" and keen observation on the part of me. :) (oh and LOTS of documenting of what goes on every day). It's serendipitous that Lissa wrote that blog post about patience/unschooling a few days ago - I had been leaning towards unschooling for awhile but her post helped everything "fall together" in my mind and St. DH's.
Right now, however, we have some "paralysis by analysis" going on. I'm spending (way too much) time reading about unschooling/delight-directed learning, and thinking about my kids/our studies/their needs/state laws, and I'm kind of lost as to what to do next, if anything. I'm having kind of a sugar-low/anxiety-high day, which isn't helping. I also don't agree with many things some major unschooling proponents think/say/do, so I'm trying to weed out what is essential to the dignity of my children, what goes against my beliefs, and what nuggets of deep wisdom I should work on adopting in our family.
Maybe I'll just put on some real clothes (I'm in sweats, LOL) and take everyone to the library when the littles wake up. (Two napping at once, a rare treat!)
