Clue that my dh doesn't know what my life is like

Tomorrow I begin adding another student, Jane - our new Kindergartener, into the mix. I expressed my nervousness about figuring out what to do when, and with whom, to keep the day flowing without constant chaos.

He says, "They're all practically at the same grade level, how hard can it be!"

Mmmm hmmm.

Seriously though, I think he was kidding - not about the fact that they are almost at the same grade level, but joking with me that it would be very easy. :)

We just had our yearly review with our umbrella school (which we do instead of being reviewed by the local board of ed.). Since I school year round, I always consider the time after our review to be the beginning of our new year, hence the addition of Jane, who is five. If I start working with her now, when I can, then we can take breaks later in the year if need be. You know, for important things like illnesses and the fact that the sun is out. ;-)

Here is the final breakdown of the curriculum for the girls. You can tell I have jumped far away from unschooling - but I'm sure I'll eventually put my own "relaxed" spin on this stuff, as I always do.

Rose (10 and entering 5th grade):
Prairie Primer for the summer
Sonlight Core 4
Sonlight Language Arts 4 with Wordly Wise 3000 Book 4
Teaching Textbooks 6
All About Spelling (remediating with level 1 and 2)
Exploring Creation with Astronomy
Pilgrims of the Holy Family
Art lessons with my mom

Skye (8 and entering 3rd grade):
Prairie Primer for the summer
Sonlight Core 4
Sonlight Language Arts 4 with Wordly Wise 3000 Book 4
Right Start Math Level D
Sequential Spelling
Pilgrims of the Holy Family
Exploring Creation with Astronomy
art lessons with my mom

Jane (5 and entering Kindy):
Listening in on Prairie Primer (this and any listening in on our Core 4 will be her history for the year)
Little Stories for Little Folks (or whatever the CHC phonics program is called - I lost the manual but have the books - Jane may actually be past this as she made a HUGE leap in her reading skill in the past few weeks)
All About Spelling Level 1
Right Start Math Level A
Listening in on Exploring Creation with Astronomy
art lessons with my mom

So really there IS a lot of overlap. The *teaching* part won't be hard. What is HARD is dealing with the wild and wooly soon to be 3 year old, and the 7 month old who now screams every time I walk away from him, and fusses much of the rest of the day. THAT'S hard. I love teaching. I have a hard time juggling.
