And it all works out in the end...

I talked to my friend about the conference (I deleted that post from a few days ago, thank you for your comments, they were helpful in my thought process!). I decided that deep down I really did prefer to help her out by speaking at our local conference. But that since I wasn't planning on attending the whole thing, I wanted to get in for free (am I horrible? I didn't want to spend the $35 family fee) for the one hour to help THEM out. I think she checked with "the powers that be" because she emailed me back and said it wouldn't work. They wanted to get people who would be at the conference anyway.

I am proud of myself for stating my wants/needs, also proud of myself for not caving when it wasn't what someone else preferred. If I was the only possible person that could do it, I would have felt differently, but I was just going to be one of several people there designed to keep the curriculum conversation going and offer my input. Now everyone will have to get their curriculum information the hard way like I did, one expensive curriculum at a time. LOL!! I do feel sad that it didn't work out, but I'm learning not to be a doormat. :) I'm glad my friend is good with that, because she is also doing the same in other situations.

Now, it does free me up to go to the other conference! I'm off to look under all the couch cushions for change to help pay for gas. ;-)
