Weekbook: Third (!) week of September

I continue to be amazed that it's already September, and the third week at that. The weekend promises to be busier than most, so I'm posting this a little earlier than usual.

Highlights of the week: Jane showing us her first loose tooth, a gatrillion loads of post-vacation laundry, much mental haranging about our curriculum choices for this year

Hight point: Jane's tooth!

Low point: hormonal craziness (so not just a "point" but actually all.week.long, creating a few (OK, many) heartbreaking moments

Needs work: finding a place for everything

Projects: more furniture research. Looks like we aren't moving forward on the couches (at least not yet) so I'm trying to find maybe a storage bench or two for strategic places. I'm guessing we'll never do this either (I can't find what I want, mostly, nothing looks good in this house...) so don't get your hopes up! But anyway, online furniture shopping has been my "project"

Discussion: the merits and costs of dropping a book that is driving you crazy, sailing,

Milestone or Progress: Jeffrey's signing more words now (Daddy, nurse, hi, cheerio, all done), the girls are sloooowly doing better at answering when I speak to them so I know they've heard me

Focus, Theme, or Atmosphere: hmmmm, probably post vacation burn out, LOL

Independent interests: Nancy Drew books all around, still. Even Jane is reading a beginning chapter book "Nancy Drew"

Spiritual: I stopped the 54 day Novena. The constant Rosaries were making me crazy - I really believe now they are not for everyone. They got me very worked up and anxious.

Nature/Outdoors: cooler weather - we haven't done much as a group, but I've been watching my lettuces and broccoli peak out of the soil

Literary: We ditched All Sail Set yesterday for Carry On, Mr. Bowditch, and I for one am SO glad we did

Artistic: Sketching. Rose drew a great rendition of the angel on our mantel

Scientific: Reading about Venus

Historical: Jumped back again to Revolutionary times! At least we're having some retention with how often we find ourselves in that era

Musical: ??? I'm sure something. The girls have been singing a lot.

Beauty: Working on it. The whole furniture, fixing up the house thing. I think our house has a Maslow's Hierarchy thing going on: until we fix up some BIG things, it won't accept the little beautifications. ;-)

Thoughts and plans for next week: I'm going to run far away and never come back. I think I'm going to dump the SL Core 4 instructors guide (I know, no surprise) and hand out the workbooks, etc with read alouds and readers as extras. It will be more of a balance for us.

A Photo Memory: from our trip to the zoo on vacation. I feel like this right now, LOL
