Weekbook: Third week of October

Autumn is really here! The leaves have started to change, and we've started using the heat already...

Highlights : more decluttering (giving a certain "breathing space" that calms my soul), an impromptu dinner with my parents last night, Skye's team WON a soccer game (their first win)

High point: a fight with my dh. Really, but it's because when we talked after he said some things that made so much sense and have cleared the air (in my head, LOL) about several bothersome topics.

Low point: the usual anxiety attacks, my mums died, hearing about my Dad's horrible trip to see my grandmother. Oh and I took an online IQ test. How disheartening! :-P

Projects: sewing Skye's costume (Mother Teresa - I've gotten as far as washing the fabric), most summer clothes are now put away, more organizing of our stuff.
Creating a photo album on Snapfish for Christmas gifts.

Discussion: hmmmm....I'm sure there was some. ;-)

Milestone or Progress: Jeffrey's making up his own signs and learning more at a rapid rate - he really picks them up fast!
Focus, Theme, or Atmosphere: I think the kids have November on the brain - my oldest two have birthdays and then there is Thanksgiving!

Spiritual: I'm praying a Novena to St. Therese of the Child Jesus

Nature/Outdoors: the mums died! And it's cooooooold. So I think I need to start pulling up our lettuces. Too bad our fall crop of broccoli never produced (or grew, really, LOL)

Literary: Across Five Aprils continues. Found a study guide here. (pdf) I'm trying to slow down our reading. Typically we just plow through and read as much as possible. But I'm stopping, discussing, reading more slowly ... seeing if that is a good fit for us.

Artistic: sculpting with playdoh, sculpy, kneaded erasers...

Scientific: Same as last week! --Apologia Astronomy - Earth. We're also examining the night sky.

Historical: Civil war. My dad is a Civil War buff but I keep forgetting to ask him to discuss it with the girls...

Beauty: this week, other than decluttering, I tried to beautify my home with a conscious effort to be calm and smile more. Even though the mums died. ;-)

A Photo I'm Sharing:
Thiinking this is not too far in our future...
