If I was...

The ever lovely and inspiring Sarah has shared a bit of word loveliness with us and encouraged me to do my own and share it with you.

If I was...

if I was a wind, I would be a gentle-cooling wind on a warm day, caressing you *just enough* 1

if I was a name, I would be Catherine with a C. But Kate with a K for short. 2

if I was a memory, I would be your last ever vision of a loved one, held tight for all eternity3

if I was a papered thing, I would be an art journal, paper and lively bits sticking out everywhere.4

if I was a poem, I would be something by e.e. cummings 5

if I was an hour, I'd be dawn, that hour of epiphany6,7,8

if I was a kiss, I'd be the first kiss of new lovers9

if I was a story, I'd be the story told of the view from a 2nd story apartment window, of the lives going on below 10

if I was a house, I would be PERFECT for the family that lived in me 11

if I was a landscape, I'd be a sun dappled glade, strewn with buttercups, with a stream bubbling not a stones throw away12

if I was a flower, I would be one of the buttercups in the above beloved field13

if I was a photograph, I would be a picture of my first family, locked up never to be lost14

if I was a heroine, I would be the quiet woman making the most loving choice in every moment15

if I was an item of clothing, I would be a little girl's favorite dress that she wants to wear every day until it is transparent16

if I was a song, I would be the lullaby Mary sang to the baby Jesus as she looked into His eyes17

What would YOU be, if...

Footnotes:

3 - forever. and ever.
4 - there is a name for these journals. please enlighten my tired brain. Crash? Slam? Sis boom bah?
5 -no poem in particular catches my fancy, I simply love how he is an architect with the words and punctuation marks themselves
6 - or noon on a sunny spring day
7 - or 5 when the family gathers again
8 - or the hour of mercy, or the growing dark when the bats come out in summer
9 - "lovers" in the poetic, modest sense, of course  (((fanning myself)))
10 - there is no 10
11 - a person can dream, can't she?
12 - ahhhhhhhhhh....
13 - or maybe a venus flytrap, because they are cool and eat things
14 - the picture, not the family!
15 - or Wonder Woman. I want her truth telling wonder lasso.
16 - I remember my oldest's. Green and black plaid, white peter pan collar. Every. day.
17 - I can't top that.
